Now, you might think that computer optimization is difficult. It’s not! Really, calling technical support is not needed as you can fix your slow computer by yourself at home in no time! If a computer using a Windows operating system runs slow, don’t blame Microsoft. It’s true that no Windows is perfect, and XP and Vista are not an exception. However, it’s easy to fix the problems. First of all, Windows has a great flaw – its registry system. Basically, when your computer is overcrowded with programs – including trials that automatically install virus spyware, junk files, and unused startup programs – registry errors start to show up. Basically, all those programs cram up RAM memory, and this leads to slow processes, which leads to a slow system performance. Don’t worry, running a registry cleaner program will help you free up some RAM, and you’ll get improved performance and a faster computer.

Now, another thing you should be aware of, is that an Internet connection enabled means that your computer might have some adware and spyware programs on it – these usually come with free trials. The greater the number of programs you installed on your Windows OS, the slower things will move, as Windows speed is directly proportional with the number of running programs.

To make a long story short, here’s what you need to do if you want to have a faster PC:

Tip #1 Defrag
One of the first things you should do if you want to speed up your computer is to defrag. This is something you can easily do and a wizard on your computer will help you defrag. You might want to do it overnight, however, because it can take a long time.
Go to start>all programs>accessories> system tools and there should be a disk defragmenter. If not go to start>my computer> right click drive (c:) or disk drive > click properties > click the tools tab then click defragment now.

Tip #2 Spyware Remover
Download a good spyware remover. Most computers have a lot of spyware running in the background, stealing information and slowing down your computer. Remove it frequently if possible.

Tip #3 Empty Temp Internet Files
Most Internet browsers save your last visited web pages for up to 30 days. If you don’t want all of those pages saved then change the days to one or two, or none, whatever meets your needs.
To do this on Internet Explorer go to Tools>internet options> and where it says browsing history under the general tab click delete and make sure temporary internet files is selected.
If you don’t have or use internet explorer then go to start>control panel>network and internet connections>internet options if your in classic view then internet options should already be there.

Tip #4 Antivirus Programs
Make sure you have a good anti-virus program and use it frequently. If you are deleting virus and preventing them from feeding on your computer then you will have a faster computer as well.
Good ones include Norton, AVG and kaspersky however there are many more. If you want a free anti-virus (they may not give you full protection as the ones you buy) you can try AVG free or Avast free antivirus.

Tip #5 Registry Cleaners
Download a registry cleaner program that will get rid of the uninstalled programs that occupy registry space for nothing and also trial programs that expired and slow down your PC.

This increased temperature causes the computer to behave erratically, resulting in very slow reaction time. 1) Clean your fans of dust regularly. When dust collects on or around the fans, it makes cooling the inside of the computer much more difficult.
