How To Speedup Your PC

Speed Up Your PC

Keeping your computer running smoothly and effectively is not as hard as most people think. If you’re the kind of user that basically runs the computer as a letter writer (e-mail) and only occasionally uses the Internet for research, you still can have files on your computer that are just sitting there slowing your computer down. You don’t have to be a computer programmer or a IT tech to learn how to keep your computer running at a good speed and working effectively. There are a few little tricks that help you keep your computer clean and running smoothly, speed up your pc, and they only take a few minutes out of your day to perform. We’ll call it our PC Speedup.

If you have gained some programs that you really don’t need, either because they were there on your computer when you bought it or your son or daughter decided to add those programs on your computer because they thought you needed them, you should take them off so that they don’t decrease your PC speed. It’s just like spring cleaning your house, whatever hasn’t been used for at least a year goes out in the garbage or in the Goodwill pile. In this case, just throw out unused programs in the garbage.

You need to defrag your computer on a regular basis, such as once a month or two. By doing this, you’ll get rid of spaces that have built up on your hard drive and move everything into a nice and neat bunch. Cleaning your computer by doing a defrag is just as important as cleaning your drawers in your kitchen. If you don’t keep things organized, you’ll be searching for hours for the right utensil. In order to find your files in a quick and effective manner, you need to keep your files organized.

You also want to get rid of temporary Internet files. They’re stored on your computer when you hunt for Internet addresses. You end up gathering these little files called “cookies” as you search the Internet. This will help you to speedup your pc. In order to get rid of them you need to click on tools, then go to Internet Options, and the last step is choose “general” and the option of “remove all cookies.” Do this at least a couple of days a week. They add up quick.

After all of this, the next PC Speedup technique is to get a registry cleaner tool for your computer to increase productivity. And don’t forget to get a really good virus protector, so your computer won’t be infected by these little pesty bugs. This can go a long way toward helping you speedup your pc.

These are the best ways to effectively speed up your PC. By using your PC Speedup, you’ll have the fastest computer in town.

Will Adding RAM Increase Computer Speed?

Article by J James

Have you heard the old saying that our grandparents studied the 3 R’s…. Reading, Riting, and Rithmatic? OK, I’m sure it was even corny back then… But today, at least in computer maintenance, it is the 2 R’s. Registry and RAM. What is RAM and how can it increase computer speed?

First, see where your computer stacks up right now. Go to your control panel and find System or System Information. There you will see some general information on your computer such as Model, Processor, etc. The RAM will be listed as Memory or maybe SDRAM. From XP forward computers need at least 1 gigabyte but really 2 gb is much better even in older models. You can’t have too much and it is not expensive.

But what is it? Random Access Memory is your computer’s working memory. It is a non-moving stick or small circuit board that is attached to the Mother Board of the PC by being plugged in. This is in contrast to the main drive storage disc that is just that, a “disc” similar to a DVD that moves when being accessed.

There is almost always room or slots for additional RAM to plug-in to the mother board and add to its capacity. On a desktop this is pretty easy by opening the side of the case. A laptop is a little more difficult and you should be careful about breaking warranty seals on new notebooks.

To add more RAM I would suggest taking in your present stick or circuit board to a local PC shop. There are different types and speeds and you need to match it exactly. The pictures here are pretty accurate as to the RAM and the mother board with the slots where the RAM is plugged in. You can remove it by taking off the case side panel and pulling it with your fingers. Don’t use pliers or anything that will crimp or scratch it. (and of course have the PC off and unplugged!)

How To Increase Internet Speed In XP

Article by R.J.Dunne

The XP operating system is still in widespread use today and struggles just as much as Vista or Windows 7 to manage the large volumes of web data they need to process. This article shows how to increase internet speed in XP without resorting to purchasing applications or editing the registry.

Start out by first getting a baseline status of how your connection is performing. Open the speedtest.net site and run their test to find the ping rate and upload/download speeds for your connection. You should run the test after each change to see if the results improve.

Run anti-virus and anti-malware/adware scan on your computer to make sure there are none present that could slow your PC speed.

Next use the Windows Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter to optimise your computer (XP has these in the properties popup for your hard drive). These types of computer maintenance and repair activities will help increase PC speed, disk access times and file caching which all goes to benefit how the browser and networking applications run.

Open your browser of choice and disable as many add-ons as you can happily do without. These add-ons can use a lot of your bandwidth and many run with every page you visit. Be picky about which ones stay enabled.

Knowing how to increase internet speed in XP, for IE users, requires a lot of Windows registry editing to manually modify network/TCP settings. In reality, you are better off leaving the registry alone or using a commercial tool to do this. The one recommended manual tweak you can do is to disable multimedia settings (under tools/ advanced) relating to audio, video and cleartype fonts.

In comparison, Firefox users can increase internet speed in XP quite simply using the Fasterfox add-on. The changes it makes can be manually made using the about:config page but doing so requires more in-depth knowledge to correctly reset some parameters.

Article by P Tab

Very often, when you are faced with the need to fix a PC registry, frustration may just add to the symptoms on the computer.

If your PC is getting sluggish, crashing or freezing, registry repair is the next logical step. Maybe you have already purchased an anti-virus software and the problem still exists. This is a sign that a registry fix is exactly what you need.

Some of the most common symptoms related registry problems are:

1. Slow computer problems

2. Constant reboots

3. PC opens programs slow

4. Start up is also slow

5. It is difficult to add or remove programs

6. Longer than normal computer response times

7. Shut downs are abnormal

8. You are getting the Blue Screen of Death

If these symptoms are part of your current experience, follow the 3 steps how to increase your PC speed below.

If you are simply ready to fix the issue instantly, the best software to handle these problems Registry Easy. Registry Easy has almost double the features for the price compared to competitors including optimizers, cleaners, defrags, and repair functions. See Registry Easy for a free scan. Please read on if you would like to follow the 3 steps how to increase PC speed with registry fix.

Step One: Make a Complete List of all Symptoms You Have Noticed

Creating a foundational measurement before repair can be a good step. This will allow you to measure the results after completing the steps in this article. You can then determine if you have managed to get rid of the problems that you have faced.

Start with the list above and fill in more details about each item listed. This could include the processes active at the time of the errors, what you are specifically doing when your system acts up, and how often the problems occur.

Step Two: Choose a Quality PC Registry Fix Software for a Free Scan

There are a handful of fantastic products on the market that can solve your registry problems in less than 10-15 minutes. It is difficult to know what products to trust when you have never shopped for one before. Do not get intimidated.

There are a couple key features to look for. The first is simplicity of the software itself. Also, look at optimization tools. For example, the best products include Internet Explorer plug in removers, evidence cleaners, junk file cleaners, and other tools beyond the registry. Finally, make sure that adequate help files are at your fingertips (whether local or online). The chances are good that you will never need a live person, so do not limit yourself to having to have a live person to speak with.

After choosing a quality PC registry fix product to download, run the full scan options to see what errors the software detects. If errors are found, move onto to step three. If not, you can determine if you want to stop or if you will still purchase the software as protection for the future.

Step Three: Purchase the Full Version of the Software So You Can Repair Your System

The same software that you just used to scan your computer will have a purchase screen that activates after the free scan is finished and errors are displayed. You can simply register a copy. Make sure that you will get the software for unlimited use for the next year. You can then scan weekly to maintain your system and lower the chances of future problems.

The download and scanning take the longest. The repair takes just seconds. Be sure to restart your computer after you finish the repair, which will acknowledge the changes and will allow you to see how what issues were fixed.

PC registry fix is a simple process when you have the help of good software. Do not try to fix the registry yourself as you will create huge problems if you are not sure what you are doing. Why take a chance when so many great products are available to do it for you?

Tips for increasing Slow PC Speed

Article by alexwfix

Fix Slow PC – Tips for Increasing PC Speed
If you have a PC that is perhaps between one and two years old, or older, then chances are pretty good that you might be experiencing some of the common symptoms that are associated with a slow PC. If this is the case, you’ll want to take the necessary steps to fix slow PC and increase the speed at which your PC operates so you can enjoy high productivity levels once more.

Common Issues Associate with Slow PC
Some of the common issues associated with a slow PC that you might experience include a slow Windows startup process, slow or poor application response times, slow file explorer response times, delayed file or folder command response times, and many other similar issues. These types of problems can halt your productivity all together and create a frustrating PC user experience. It is for these reasons that you will want to fix slow PC in order to get it working more efficiently once more.

Common Causes of a Slow PC
Some of the more common causes of a slow PC include such things as registry errors, fragmentation, unwanted programs or services in the Windows startup process, spyware and malware, outdated or insufficient hardware and other PC components, and more.

-Registry errors can eat up valuable system resources because of the increase in processing efforts which are required to decipher registry errors.
-File fragmentation causes inefficient processing within the file system, which means that valuable system resources are consumed during the process of performing common file and folder functions.
-When unwanted or unnecessary programs or services run during Windows startup, they are stealing valuable processing resources that could otherwise be put towards the actual Windows startup process.
- Spyware and malware programs can infect your system and perform unwanted behaviors which ultimately result in the unnecessary utilization of valuable system resources, thus taking away from other processes that are running at the same time.
- Insufficient hardware can create processing inefficiencies or prevent certain functions from happening all together because the minimum requirements for those functions are no longer met.

How to Fix Slow PC
There are a number of things that can be done to fix slow PC and get it back up and running once more. One thing that can be done to eliminate registry errors is to download and install a registry cleaner, and then run a complete system scan. The registry cleaner will identify issues and problem areas within the registry that need to be fixed. With regard to file fragmentation, the simplest solution for it is the defragmentation process which is the process of reorganizing the contents of the file system in a more efficient and effective manner. Files that have been split up and stored in multiple places will be realigned together to create more efficient processing. Other steps that can be taken to fix the common issues that are associated with a slow PC include startup process optimization, hardware and software updates, and disk cleanup which scans your entire system and identifies which files and folders can be removed because they are no longer being used or haven’t been used for a long time.
